ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga assures of free and fair party nominations

Speaking in Rongo Constituency, Migori County, during an empowerment programme for boda boda riders, Wanga said the party would ensure all aspirants are treated fairly during the nomination process.

She emphasised that ODM members, not party leaders, would determine who receives the party ticket for various elective positions, urging aspirants to seek support from party members rather than relying on endorsements from senior leaders.

Her remarks were echoed by Migori County ODM Chairperson and Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who reaffirmed that party tickets would be awarded to candidates who emerge victorious during the nominations.

The party leaders also called for unity among ODM members and leaders, saying cohesion is key to keeping the party strong ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wanga urged members to avoid unnecessary leadership wrangles that could weaken the party.

Amid ongoing leadership disputes within ODM in Rongo Sub-county, Wanga stated that the party officially recognises Maxwell Orina as the ODM chairperson for the sub-county.

Her remarks followed claims by Rongo MP Paul Abuor that there are three rival ODM factions operating separate offices within the sub-county.

Meanwhile, Wanga and Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo urged members of the Luo community to turn out in large numbers and register as voters.

Wanga said increasing the region's voter numbers would strengthen ODM's negotiating position and enable the party to secure more senior political positions should it enter into a political pact with the UDA party.
