Police in Thika have launched an investigation into the tragic death of a 16-year-old student at Thika High School who died following a fatal altercation on the school premises.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim, a Grade 10 student (equivalent to Form Two), was involved in a dispute with a classmate on Friday, July 10, 2026.

The altercation reportedly escalated when the fellow Grade 10 student threw the deceased from the first floor of a school building, causing him to hit the ground floor and sustain fatal injuries.

The incident has left the family in deep distress, compounded by what they describe as a lack of transparency from the school administration.

Jamal Aidid, a relative of the deceased, expressed frustration over the silence from the school authorities, noting that the family has not yet received any clear information directly from the institution regarding the circumstances that led to the teenager's death.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident, which has been recorded under Occurrence Book (OB) number 02/11/07/2026.

On Saturday morning, family members gathered at Thika Level 5 Hospital, where they awaited a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death as detectives continue with investigations.
