President William Ruto on Sunday welcomed the Streamer to Kenya. "Kenya is not just another country; Kenya is a pulse, a feeling. Kenya is home. This is Magical Kenya," Ruto told Speed in a video message.
Being one of his biggest live streaming projects, Speed, born Darren Jason Watkins Jr, aired his 13th stream on Sunday morning when he visited Upper Hill School and even played a rugby game.
He later went to Kenyatta Market where he was received by a mammoth crowd of fans all wanting to rub shoulders with the globally revered streamer.
The 20-year-old internet sensation later went to the Nairobi national park, where he fed a hyena, lions, a leopard and a cheetah, where he received a show stopping welcoming and was even escorted by many fans aboard motorcycles down Langata road.
"We love you IShowSpeed," the fans kept shouting as he headed to Carnivore restaurant, where he was treated to an abundance of different types of meat.
He even acknowledged that his Kenyan stream has recorded the highest subscriber count in the African tour.
"We are about to hit 47.9 million. I don't think you understand how crazy that is. No other country so far in this tour has been able to gain this amount of subs in one stream. Kenya is so far number one," he said on his stream.
He embarked on his tour in South Africa, where he raced a cheetah, interacted with the rich customs of Mozambique, Botswana and Angola.
His first visit to Kenya will see him visiting significant relevant places in the country and meeting a plethora of luminaries.
His posts and livestreams showcasing his experiences in Africa, particularly his positive treatment by locals, have sparked online conversation, reportedly challenging long-held American stereotypes about Africa being generally unsafe for visitors.
Speed has received a huge welcome in Kenya, as fans have thronged the streets to see him.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano also welcomed the internet sensation, challenging him to enjoy Kenyan delicacies and visit attractions such as the Maasai Mara and other parks.
