Majority Leader in the National Assembly and Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah has defended the low voter turnout witnessed in some parts of Kiambu County as the UDA grassroots elections continue across 20 counties.

Ichung’wah attributed the low turnout in some polling centres to delays in the delivery of digital voting gadgets, which caused the exercise to start late. He, however, assured party members that additional time would be added to compensate for the time lost and ensure fairness in the process.

At the same time, Kiambaa MP John Njuguna Kawanjiku called upon the UDA party elections committee to conduct party civic education, where he urged the party to consider adding more gadgets to areas where voters are in large numbers.

Meanwhile, turnout in Kikuyu and Kiambaa Constituency has been relatively fair, especially at Kikuyu and Gachie Town Primary School, where MP Ichung’wah and Kawanjiku cast their vote.
