Four people, among them a bandit have been killed in the latest banditry attack in Samburu County in less than 48 hours after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, visited the area and assured residents of government commitment to flashing out the bandits from Malaso Valley.

It's believed that armed Pokot bandits numbering about 60 from the neighbouring Baringo County raided the Samburu herders who were grazing their animals in Nolkera area of Samburu West sub-county and opened fire, killing three instantly in the shootout.

Their efforts to make away with the livestock, were thwarted with the GSU and KDF officers from Ntungai and Nolkera camps, who responded and managed to recover all the stolen livestock after a gub battle.

The attack has raised tension among the residents, who question the government's commitment to taming banditry in Samburu.

The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Samburu County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting post-mortem examination.
