Kayole Starlets assistant coach Vincent Ngesa has expressed his disappointment over the 2-1 defeat to Trinity Starlets, saying the loss has disrupted their good run as they prepare to face Madira Soccer Assassins in their next fixture.
Ngesa, alongside head coach Mary Adhiambo, had guided the
Kayole-based side to five wins and a draw before their impressive run ended
following Saturday’s loss at Comboni Polytechnic in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The defeat saw Kayole Starlets drop to fourth place on the
table with 16 points, the same tally as third-placed Kenya Police Bullets.
Trinity Starlets, meanwhile, cemented their lead at the top with 20 points,
three ahead of second-placed Ulinzi Starlets.
Elsewhere, at Bungoma Polytechnic Stadium, hosts Bungoma
Queens defeated Kibera Soccer Women 3-1, while Vihiga Queens settled for a
goalless draw against Police Bullets at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
On Sunday, Kisumu All Starlets were beaten 2-1 by Kisped
Queens at Moi Stadium, while Ulinzi Starlets edged Gideon Starlets 1-0 at Raila
Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County.
“It’s a tough pill to swallow. We accept the result and have
gone back to the drawing board to plan for our next match. Against Trinity, I
noticed some lapses, especially in defence, which cost us the win. However,
with the good preparations we have had so far, I’m confident we can secure a
win against Madira Soccer Assassins in our next fixture,” said Ngesa.
In an earlier interview, head coach Mary Adhiambo reiterated
that Kayole Starlets’ main objective remains a top-five finish.
“Since earning promotion, our goal has been to avoid
relegation and secure a top-five spot. That’s what we are pushing for,” she
said.
