The new outlet, Shell Basic 58, was officially opened in Nakuru on Monday, becoming the 11th Shell service station in the town as the company continues to expand into key commercial centres.
The milestone underscores Vivo Energy's growing investment in Kenya's downstream petroleum industry, with the latest station expected to serve the increasing number of motorists and businesses in Nakuru, one of the country's fastest-growing urban centres.
Speaking during the launch, Vivo Energy Executive Vice President for Retail and Commercial Business Arnaud Guichard said the opening reflected the company's long-term commitment to expanding its national footprint while supporting economic activity.
"The launch of this service station symbolises our enduring commitment to Kenya's growth story. Each new location strengthens our presence across this vibrant country, creating jobs and supporting local economies," Guichard said.
He noted that the company continues to tailor its retail network to meet changing consumer preferences, with modern service stations increasingly offering motorists access to multiple services in one location.
Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director Peter Murungi said the new station also highlights the company's strategy of partnering with local businesses.
He revealed that the facility will house Quickmart Supermarket, a Nakuru-founded retail chain, while Goodlife Pharmacy, Chicken Inn and Pizza Inn are expected to open outlets at the station in the coming weeks.
"We are not only opening a service station here at Section 58, but also strengthening a home-grown partnership," Murungi said.
Beyond fuel sales, the new Shell station is expected to operate as a convenience hub, combining retail shopping, dining and essential services under one roof.
The opening marks another step in Vivo Energy Kenya's nationwide expansion strategy, with the company continuing to grow its Shell-branded network to improve access to fuel and related services across the country.
The enlarged network is also expected to create employment opportunities while supporting local businesses through commercial partnerships.
The latest investment comes as oil marketing companies increasingly compete by expanding service station networks and transforming traditional fuel stations into multi-service retail destinations that cater to the evolving needs of motorists and surrounding communities.
