Former Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has unveiled a new party, the People's Prosperity Party (PPP).

During the launch of the party, Owalo said that if elected in next year's polls, his administration will be solely centred on economic liberation.

Owalo said that for so long, the country has struggled to steer an economic agenda, pushing many Kenyans into the poverty bracket.

"We must build Kenya where poverty is not a death sentence," said Owalo.

The former deputy chief of staff said he is ready to offer transformation leadership, which will deal with corruption, heavy taxation, public debt, and managing wastage in government, among other areas.

He said his regime will ensure basic education, and health care will be free.

The presidential hopeful prides himself on his stellar career in several portfolios in the past.

The PPP aspirant threw a jibe at his competitors, insisting on what he calls "a fresh term"

"Some of them, both in government and opposition, have been in leadership for 30 years. What are they going to do differently?" asked Owalo.

He says the PPP government will work to alleviate numerous setbacks currently experienced in the country.
