More than 100 bulls were traditionally presented by mourners drawn from different communities to the late Raila Odinga’s bereaved family at their Opoda farm in Bondo, Siaya County.

The delegations that were led by elders and leaders paid tribute to the former Prime Minister, terming him a peace maker who united rival communities through peaceful co-existence and prosperity.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa separately led in paying homage to Raila Odinga’s bereaved family in Bondo.

Escorted by community elders, the leaders brought along bulls as a sign of appreciation and honour for the fallen legend, as well as contribution towards feeding the thousands of mourners expected during Sunday’s burial ceremony at the Opoda farm.

“The Odingas and Luo did the same when we lost my father...this is a sign of everlasting friendship between the two communities,” said Wamalwa.

Busia Governor Paul Otuoma led yet another team from his county in presenting several bulls at the Opoda farm home of the departed leader.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi was also accompanied by community elders as he culturally arrived at Opoda farm to condole the grieving family.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Benjamin Cheboi from Baringo and Wesley Rotich from Elgeyo Marakwet delivered a total of 80 head of cattle to the bereaved family to condole with them.
