Lorry driver killed, several injured in multi-vehicle crash at Sachangwan

According to reports, the lorry that lost its brakes and crashed into six other vehicles, including two Nissan matatus.
Nakuru County traffic enforcement officer Emmanuel Opuru confirmed the incident, saying the lorry driver died on the spot.
Several passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to various hospitals, including Molo Sub-County Hospital and the Provincial General Hospital (PGH) in Nakuru, for treatment.
Opuru said police officers were dispatched to the scene to support rescue operations and manage traffic, as the accident caused a major traffic snarl-up on the busy highway.
One of the rescuers, Rachel Maru, said congestion stretched for hours as emergency teams worked to clear the wreckage.
Sachangwan and the nearby Migaa area are known accident black spots along the highway.
In March 2025, at least 14 people were killed in a similar crash at Migaa.
The body of the deceased driver has been moved to a funeral home in Molo, with police working to trace and document victims receiving treatment in different hospitals.
