A day after a protected witness testified about how he was used to transport suspects in the murder case of former Kasipul MP Charles Ong'ondo Were, his wife and son recounted what transpired on the day of the incident.

The three witnesses narrated the final hours of former MP Were and the events that followed his killing.

The late MP's widow, police officer Margaret Koriri told the court that she received an M-Pesa message of Ksh.5,200 from her husband at 7:10 a.m, On April 30, 2025. By 8:50 p.m., Were’s private guard, PC Ogolla, called her in tears. Moments later, her son Proctor Ojaa confirmed the devastating news that his father had been shot.

“I know two of them. He’s my neighbor Allan Dave Kalo, and Allan Ogolla, my neighbor at home and my husband’s bodyguard for only one year,” Margaret Koriri, the widow to the late MP, said.

The second witness, businessman Dennis Sewe Manyasi, described how police stormed Umoja estate while he was watching football with a friend who is now a suspect.

“They shouted demanding guns. I was terrified. Later they claimed to have found weapons before taking me to Pangani,” said witness Dennis Sewe.

The third witness, Kasipul MP Boyd Were, a son of the deceased, told the court that he had advised his father to use his white car instead of the black V8 he often drove, due to threats.

“I advised my father to switch cars for safety. Hours later, I received news that he had been killed,” said MP Boyd Were.

"The two suspects are our neighbours back home 600 meters from our home," Margaret Koriri, widow of the deceased, told the court.

The case will resume between October 21 and 26, when the driver is expected to give crucial testimony.
