The Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Ltd has commenced a recruitment process to fill the position of Group Chief Executive Officer.

The exercise was prompted by the exit of Wilson Muthaura who proceeded on pending annual leave as he is set to attain the mandatory retirement age. The role was taken by Eng. Francis Miano in acting capacity as from January 16, 2026.

In a statement on Monday, KTDA Holdings Chairman Chege Kirundi said that 50 applications have been received, 5 of which are from internal candidates drawn from the Agency's senior leadership.

"The board has emphasised that the recruitment will be competitively driven and free from bias, with selection based on demonstrable competence, sector experience and leadership capacity," he said.

The Board, Kirundi added, is partnering with an independent recruitment panel to manage the search and shortlisting.

The process will include shortlisting of candidates against a published job specification, objective assessment and competency interviews, reference and background checks and final selection by the Board based on panel recommendations.

He asserted that shortlisted candidates will be invited for assessment in the coming weeks as the Board will announce the successful candidate once all due diligence and approvals are complete.

KTDA Holdings oversees the management of Kenya’s smallholder tea sector and plays a central role in tea processing, marketing, and related services across the country.
