Police in Kisumu West Sub-County are investigating the motive behind the killing of a man who was attacked and hacked last night as he returned from watching a football match at Holo Market.

The deceased’s wife, Angela Odhiambo, told police that her husband failed to return home after the match, prompting her to raise the alarm. She made frantic efforts to trace him, but her numerous phone calls went unanswered.

According to police, Mrs Odhiambo visited the local social joint where her husband had gone to watch the match, but he was nowhere to be found. While returning home, she discovered him lying unconscious in a pool of blood along the road.

With the help of well-wishers, she rushed him to Kombewa Sub-County Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kisumu West visited the scene and established that the deceased had been attacked by unknown assailants, who inflicted deep cuts on his forehead and the back of his head.

Police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators as investigations continue.
