Emusire Boys' Box 14 FC tactician Billy Aluda has
attributed their failure to join FKF Western Regional League to financial challenges.
Aluda says they have reconsidered their ambition to
compete at higher levels after emerging Vihiga County League champions in the
2024/25 season when they beat Bumuyange FC 4:2 in post-match penalties.
“After analysing the cost implications, we have
opted to return to the County league,” Aluda said.
“The school can only facilitate students to take
part in Kenya Secondary School Sports Association-sanctioned competitions, not
FKF leagues,” he added.
Aluda revealed Box 14 FC fans complemented Emusire
Boys High School resources to honor County league matches.
“Last season, the County League had a sponsor
covering officiating and registration costs. I only needed to avail the team,
but the regional league has no sponsor, and we'd meet all costs ourselves,
which is impractical,” he said.
Emusire dethroned Ebwali FC (2-1) at Chavakali High
School to win the Vihiga County secondary schools soccer title before lifting
the County League title on 60 points, 10 points clear of Vima FC who ranked
second.
“The County league keeps players fit for school
games. We'll compete this year, though teams have increased,” Aluda added.
