The scholarships were presented during the 2026 Fanisi Scholarship Award Ceremony, held under the theme “Empowering the Future Through Education.”
The Fanisi programme targets academically promising students and provides financial support alongside mentorship and life skills development.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Mumbua Mbaluka, Head of Institutional Advancement at the National Intelligence and Research University (NIRU), urged beneficiaries to align their education with changing economic realities.
“The future of work is evolving. Education must be matched with practical skills, innovation, and an entrepreneurial mindset,” Dr. Mbaluka said, noting that graduates increasingly face limited absorption into traditional white-collar employment.
The students were encouraged to focus on problem-solving, creativity, discipline, and community service in addition to academic performance.
Enwealth Foundation Executive Director John Kennedy Monyoncho said the scholarships go beyond financial assistance and aim to support students’ long-term development.
“These scholarships represent an opportunity for education, character formation, and a purposeful future,” he said, reaffirming the foundation’s continued investment in vulnerable learners.
Group Chief Executive Officer of Enwealth Financial Services, Simon Wafubwa, also addressed the scholars, urging them not to be limited by their backgrounds.
“Where you start does not define where you will end,” he said, emphasizing discipline and resilience as key to success.
Since its establishment in 2011, Enwealth Foundation has supported more than 500 students and invested over KSh 80 million in scholarships, mentorship, and development programmes.
The Fanisi Scholarship programme is part of the foundation’s broader efforts to expand access to education and equip young people with skills needed for a changing job market.
