Police officers in Garbatula, Isiolo County, on Sunday recovered 300 goats that had been stolen from two local herders.
According to the National Police Service, the goats had been
stolen by five suspected rustlers who reportedly abandoned the animals to evade
arrest.
“Upon receiving the report, officers from Garbatula Police
Station responded swiftly and launched an immediate pursuit,” NPS stated.
“The team followed the trail of the stolen animals to the
Malkandaka area, where they encountered five suspected rustlers. The suspects
fled the scene, abandoning the animals and evading arrest.”
Following the escape, detectives then secured and safely
returned them to their rightful owners.
NPS says that efforts to track down and arrest the suspects
are underway.
Consequently, police have intensified operations to combat
livestock theft through enhanced patrols, close collaboration with local
communities, and intelligence-led interventions.
