Traders at
Suneka market in Boncharo, Kisii County, have expressed their frustration over
ongoing waste management issues that have persisted for several weeks.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, the vendors reported being forced to clear their workspaces and
dispose of trash along the roadside.
This, they
said, creates significant chaos and safety concerns, especially following heavy
rains that continue to cause flooding in the region.
The vendors complained
that despite paying taxes to the county government, they receive little or no
support from the authorities.
They are
calling on Kisii Governor Simba Arati to instruct relevant officials
responsible for waste management in the market to take swift and effective
action.
“This will
address the situation before disease outbreaks emerge due to the accumulation
of waste,” the traders said.
