Police have launched investigations following the murder of a bodaboda rider originally from Kakamega County in Bungoma County.

According to the victim's neighbour, Bob Hamisi, the deceased — identified as Abubakar — had picked up a customer at around 6pm on Sunday to ferry them to Nyange Area in Bungoma.

However, his body was discovered the following morning, showing signs of an attack.

“It was around 6pm on Sunday evening when he got a customer heading to Nyange, but it turned out to be a trap. This morning, his body was found, badly mutilated,” Bob recounted.

The market spokesperson - Kisa - confirmed that the body is currently at the mortuary and Abubakar’s motorcycle is still missing.

He called on security agencies to fast-track investigations and ensure those responsible are brought to justice. He also expressed concern over the rising number of murder cases targeting bodaboda riders in Bungoma County in recent weeks.
