TikiTaka Tournament held today at the Ruiru Grounds brought together vibrant football talent and community energy, thanks to sponsorship from Weego.

The tournament aimed to unite young people from various estates, offering them a platform to showcase their skills and engage in positive, meaningful activity.

This year’s edition featured eight teams, each representing different neighborhoods, with players showing great enthusiasm and potential.

Peter Maina, the tournament’s organizing chairperson, said the event was launched in 2024 with the purpose of promoting unity and exposing local football talent:

“Our goal is to continue growing this tournament across more estates. We want to keep our youth engaged, focused, and away from negative influences.”

Stanley Mwangi, part of the organizing team, added:  “This is a community-driven tournament, especially targeting young children. It gives them a stage to shine. We are appealing for more sponsors to support the dream.”

Eli Kogei, captain of Team Blue, expressed the significance of the tournament for his team:

“This tournament means a lot. It’s a chance for us to expose our talents and be seen. We’re here to compete and grow.”

Willis Ogada, an employee from Weego, affirmed the company’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment through sports:

“We’re here representing Weego to support all participants with everything they need — from equipment to encouragement. We will continue backing such initiatives to nurture more youth talent in the community.”

The success of today’s tournament is a strong sign of how grassroots football can impact lives, inspire hope, and build stronger, united communities. Plans are already underway to expand the tournament to other regions.
