Soy United Chief Executive Officer, Ayiro Edwin, has welcomed the Sports Disputes Tribunal’s decision ordering a replay of the highly contested clash between Gucha Stars and Nakuru Bucks.

‎Speaking to Citizen Digital, Ayiro noted that the verdict brings closure to the long-standing row, clearing the way for the Division Two League to resume after weeks of delay.

‎He also expressed confidence that his team is well-prepared to handle any outcome from the replay, including the possibility of engaging in a playoff match to confirm their promotion back to the National Super League (NSL).

‎“We are ready for any scenario. If it comes down to a playoff, Soy United will rise to the challenge,” he affirmed.

‎The Soy United boss also backed the Football Kenya Federation’s new league directive that will see the top three NSL teams earn automatic promotion to the Premier League, while the bottom three drop to Division One. He said the structure provides clarity and fairness, motivating teams to perform consistently throughout the season.

‎Despite their success on the pitch, Soy United have been grappling with financial challenges. Ayiro stressed that securing a sponsor would significantly boost the club’s ambitions and help sustain their competitiveness at higher levels.

‎"If Soy United landed a corporate sponsorship, I can tell you that the team can challenge for the premier league promotion," he said.

‎The club has already confirmed Eldoret Show Ground as their home venue for the upcoming season. Ayiro has at the same time called on fans to rally behind the team, urging them to show up in large numbers and give the players much-needed support.

‎The Tribunal instructed FKF to organize a rematch between Gucha Stars and Nakuru Bucks to resolve the promotion impasse. If Gucha Stars emerge victorious, they will secure a direct slot in the NSL. This would force Soy United, who had initially been promoted, to battle Bumbani in a playoff to determine their final promotion status.

‎As the replay looms, all eyes are on the outcome that could shape Soy United’s future in Kenyan football.
