Standout performers from the just concluded National Sevens Circuit headline the 48-man Shujaa provisional squad named by head coach Kevin Wambua on Friday, setting the tone for a packed 2025–2026 international season.

The National 7s Circuit “Dream Team”  – featuring Vincent Onyala, Gabriel Ayimba, Kelvin Wekesa, Samuel Asati, Nygel Amaitsa, Daniel Kipchirchir and Victor Mola – perfectly captures the calibre of players now rewarded with national call-ups.

The provisional squad underscores the quality that illuminated six thrilling legs where these stars consistently stole the spotlight.

Victor Mola, for instance, emerged as top try scorer in five of the six tournaments, while veterans like Onyala and Wekesa delivered match-winning performances that demanded national recognition.

Their inclusion in the Dream Team mirrors the wider selection philosophy that values both experience and explosive new talent.

With the circuit concluded, Wambua has unveiled a 48-man provisional squad to kick off an intensive training camp at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi on September 22.

The camp will sharpen skills, build fitness, and nurture the mental edge required for elite sevens rugby, as Kenya’s senior sides—Shujaa and Morans—gear up for a demanding international calendar and a return to top-flight sevens.

The squad reflects a broad sweep of the local rugby scene. Overall circuit winners KCB RFC lead with seven names, including Shujaa captain George Ooro and playmaker Samuel Asati.

Kabras RFC contribute stalwarts like Brian Tanga and Kevin Wekesa, while Menengai Oilers provide Daniel Kipchirchir and John Okoth.

Strathmore Leos, inspired by Mola’s remarkable season, boast Gabriel Ayimba and Nygel Amaitsa among their six call-ups. Daystar Falcons impress with eight selections, among them Patrick Odongo and Clinton Amukuachi.

Other notable picks include Christant Ojwang and Josephat Njunye from Nakuru, Brian Nyamboki and Hassan Wambani of Catholic Monks, Mwamba’s Eugene Ojiambo and Dennis Ndayala, and rising rookie Bryson Ogamba from KU Blak Blad.

Regional representation stretches to Mombasa SC’s Nahashon Mwangemi and MMUST’s Tyson Juma.

This expansive provisional squad is not only a pathway to the senior national teams but also feeds Kenya’s inaugural U20 sevens setup, giving every player a shot at flying the Kenyan flag on the global stage.
