Grassroots sports in Kenya are set to benefit from a range
of uplifting programs thanks to a timely and strategic partnership between Ranee
Production and Fireflies Sports and Entertainment, which was
announced on Wednesday.
During the unveiling, the two entities hosted His Eminence
Prof. Dr. Sir Madhu Krishna, the Chief Chairman cum Chief Rector of AUGP,
UNUGP USA, the first Indian to have received the US President’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
He is also the first Indian whose statue in bronze was
installed in the European historical museum in the parliament in 2014
During the event, Ranee Production Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) Ranee Jamal received the United Nations Global Peace award for her excellent
community work, having first been honored in the UK, and hosted a celebration
in Kenya afterwards. She dedicated her award to promoting peace through sports.
His Eminence Prof. Dr. Sir Madhu Krishna pledged his
support for the innovation hub and grassroots sports development initiative.
Through its clarion call for peace, the program will focus more on identifying
local talents and providing global exposure.
The sports innovation hubs serve as incubators for startups,
providing an ecosystem rich with resources, mentorship, and networking
opportunities.
This is not a mere physical space but a collaborative community that fosters creativity and drives technological advancements in
sports.
Seasoned industry professionals provide mentorship, guiding
startups through the intricate process of product development, market analysis,
and business strategy.
The first of its kind in Africa, the hub plays a crucial
role in bridging the gap between innovation and the marketplace.
The hub facilitates partnerships with established companies and sports organizations, helping startups navigate the complex path to
commercialization.
Beyond the tangible benefits, the initiative cultivates
a sense of community among startups, fostering a collaborative
environment where ideas can be shared and improved upon.
Through these multifaceted roles, the sport innovation hub is
instrumental in accelerating startup growth from
ideation to market presence, ultimately shaping the future of sports technology and enhancing the
athletic experience for all.
“We are bringing our experience and success story from over 70 musical concerts that we have hosted in Kenya, South Africa, and around
the world to revolutionize the sports industry,” Jamal noted.
His Eminence Prof. Madhu added, “We want to make Kenya the African
epicenter for nurturing talent and building. Kenya is a great nation and is
doing well in sport.”
Fireflies Sports and Entertainment CEO Raphael Mahulo
expressed pride in taking a starring role in the initiative.
“I am happy to be leading the innovation hub. This is
something I have always wanted to do. I'm glad we have people willing to walk
with us.
“The time has come to commercialize our sports. Let's give
more attention to the plays.”
The event was also attended by the special advisor for
economic empowerment and sustainable livelihood in the executive office of the
president, Hon. Jaoko Oburu, who assured the government’s willingness and
readiness to work with private partners to develop sports in this country.
Fireflies Sports and Entertainment has a five-year
partnership with the Kenya Basketball Federation to invest in the Kenya Basketball
Premier League.
The company is focusing more on developing sports but
ensuring consistency, investing in fan engagement, and promoting grassroots
development
