The stage is set for a thrilling showdown at the 2025 Kabeberi Sevens, with pools officially confirmed for the September 6–7 spectacle, set for the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.  The tournament serves as the penultimate leg of the National Sevens Circuit and could prove decisive in shaping the title race.

KCB Rugby, the defending champions and current circuit leaders, headline Pool A alongside Nakuru RFC, Mean Machine, and invited side Mombasa RFC. The bankers, winners of both the Driftwood and Christie Sevens this season, are chasing a record third consecutive Kabeberi crown. Last year, they swept aside Menengai Oilers 29–5 in the final, and with their unmatched depth and experience, enter once again as heavy favourites.

Breathing down their necks in the overall standings, however, is a resurgent varsity outfit that has already claimed the Prinsloo and Embu Sevens titles. Their fearless, youthful style has made them the season’s surprise package and a genuine threat to KCB’s dominance.

Elsewhere, Pool B promises Nairobi fireworks with Strathmore Leos, Kenya Harlequin, Mwamba RFC, and invited Impala RFC all set to lock horns.

Pool C features MMUST, Daystar Falcons, Catholic Monks, and Homeboyz RFC, winners of Division Two at the Embu Sevens, who will be eager to test themselves at the top level.

The much-anticipated “Rai Derby” headlines Pool D, with Menengai Oilers and Kabras Sugar clashing in what could be an early tournament classic. They are joined by Embu RFC and invited Kisumu RFC. Oilers, still smarting from last year’s heavy loss to KCB in the final, will be hunting both revenge and vital points.

With the circuit entering its decisive stretch, the Kabeberi Sevens is poised to play a pivotal role in the championship race. Fans can expect high-paced action, rivalries rekindled, and potential upsets as the country’s rugby heavyweights and rising challengers collide.

The big question remains: Can KCB cement their dynasty with another emphatic win, or will the chasing pack finally break their stranglehold?
