The club confirmed his departure on Thursday through its official social media handles, marking the end of a decorated spell defined by history-making achievements.
Kahata’s exit comes just weeks after helping the Law Enforcers seal their first-ever FKF Premier League title in the 2024/25 season.
That victory added to his personal honours list, making it four league titles in his career following three earlier triumphs with Gor Mahia.
Since joining Police in 2022, Kahata has been at the heart of the team’s rise from top-flight debutants to serious contenders.
His creativity, composure, and leadership transformed the midfield, inspiring the club’s defining moment in 2024 when they clinched the FKF Cup against KCB.
The veteran playmaker leaves at a time of major squad changes. He becomes the fifth key player to depart in this transfer window, joining Tim Oyanda, Tyson Otieno, Kenneth Muguna, Jesse Were, and Duncan Otieno.
These exits come as Police reshuffle their squad ahead of their much-anticipated CAF Champions League debut later this year.
In a bid to strengthen for the challenges ahead, Police have already moved to secure new talent, starting with Harambee Stars forward Edward Omondi, their first signing for the 2025/26 campaign.
While his next career move remains under wraps, Kahata leaves behind a legacy as one of Police FC’s most influential figures, a player who arrived when the club was still finding its footing and left having helped build it into a title-winning force.
