The match played at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday afternoon saw the Kenyan champions pick their second successive win in the qualifiers after making a strong start to their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Uganda’s Kampala Queens last Thursday.
The win now places the law enforcers on top of Group A with 6 points, three ahead of Kampala Queens with DenDen remaining winless in the preliminary matches.
The defeat saw the Eritrean champions crash out of the competition following a 7-0 humbling in the hands of Kampala Queens of Uganda in the opening match.
Police were to win the match with a big margin but Elizabeth Ochaka hit the post in the 36th minute.
Another one on one situation emerged in the 50th minute of the second half after substitute Vidah Okeyo delivered a long shot which was well cleared by keeper Sofanit Gebresilasie.
DenDen seemed to play a defending game in the first half but their scoring chance emerged in the 62nd minutes after striker Rahwa Hans shot on target but was punched out by Police goal stopper Annedy Kundu.
Coach Odemba made a couple of changes as she brought in Sharon Vidah, Purity Anyetu, Rebecah Odato and Lucy Jirah, who replaced Margaret Kunihira, Zainab Namileme, Lourna Nyabuto and Leah Cherotich.
The Beldine Odemba coached team will meet the winner of Group C which consists of JKT Queens (Tanzania), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), JKU Princess (Zanzibar).
Semi-finals are scheduled for September 14, while finals will be staged on September 11 but will be preceded by the third winner match on September 16.
The group stage will culminate on Friday whereby Top G Academy of Burundi will be taking on CBE as South Sudan’s Yei FC play JKT of Tanzania.
The qualifiers, which run until September 11, bring together nine league champions from across the region to battle for one ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League finals in Egypt in November.
