This follows their 2-0 win over Naivas on Saturday in the first leg of the FKF Premier League promotion/relegation playoff, a result Pamzo believes gives them an edge over the NSL side.
“Going by the way we played the first leg, I believe we shall remain in the top tier next season. We just have to remain focused and work towards completing our goal,” Pamzo told Citizen Digital.
Two second-half goals by Felix Oluoch in a space of four minutes put the messengers on the front foot heading into the second leg.
The first half had ended in a barren draw with Posta Rangers finally finding the breakthrough in the 64th minute when Oluoch capitalized on Naivas’ sloppy defence to slot home the first before nodding in the second in a similar fashion four minutes later.
The 55-year-old tactician says they’ll not change their approach in the second leg as they eye an early goal to put the game to bed.
These playoff matches are matches you don’t plan for, but our mentality made us win the game. I don’t think we will change our game plan. We hope to get an early goal to kill the game,” Pamzo added.
He has hailed his boys for their first-leg victory but warned them against resting on their laurels ahead of tomorrow’s return leg.
“The first leg’s result was a good one, it eased pressure on us but the game is not yet over. We have to remain focused and avoid mistakes.”
Pamzo has admitted that he found a demotivated squad when he arrived mid-season, and he has worked his way out to instill confidence in the boys and he’s proud of the progress they have made despite still fighting for relegation.
“The morale in the team was low, and I had to make them believe again. I had been able to manage the situation before at Shabana, and I had to do the same for the boys. The difference is that Posta has talented players; the only problem has been finances,” Pamzo said, hopeful of a turnaround in the situation.
The match shall kick off tomorrow at 3:00 pm at the St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a County.
