Ogeta stars as Oilers beat Nondies to book Christie 7s semis slot

Menengai Oilers booked their
place in the Christie 7s Cup semifinals after a commanding 26-10 victory over
Nondescripts in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Winger Bildad Ogeta proved instrumental, setting
up both of Dan Kichirchir’s tries before crossing the line himself to cap off a
fine display.
Kichirchir’s brace put
the Oilers firmly in control, while Denis Abukuse added one try. Clarckson
Keegan was calm from the tee, slotting in the conversions to complete the 26-10
tally.
Nondies, who had shown flashes of promise earlier in the day, struggled to
breach Oilers’ well-drilled defense, settling for two unconverted tries in
reply.
The victory now pits the Oilers against Strathmore Leos in the semifinals. The
Leos were in ruthless form as they brushed aside Catholic Monks 29-7 to book
their ticket.
On the opposite end of
the draw, defending champions KCB turned on the style with a 27-0 shutout win
over Daystar Falcons, while hosts Kenya Harlequin edged their rivals Impala
17-10 in a tense derby.
That sets up a blockbuster semifinal line-up where Oilers will meet Strathmore
Leos, and KCB squaring off against Kenya Harlequin.
With defending
champions Kabras falling short of the Cup quarters, a new champion will be
crowned at the 2025 Christie 7s.
