National Super League side Naivas Football Club is setting
its sights on a brighter campaign as the 2025/26 season kicks off next weekend.
The NSL outfit believes they have what it takes to make an
impact, thanks to improved preparations during the preseason.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, club manager Moses Kamau expressed confidence in the squad, noting
that the training sessions and friendly matches the team has taken part in have
sharpened their form and boosted morale.
“We are going into this season with high hopes. The work
put in during competitive friendlies has played give us confidence that we can
achieve more this year,” Kamau said.
Naivas are determined to avoid the slow start that hampered
their progress last season. Kamau admitted that the club’s poor run in the
opening 10 fixtures cost them valuable points, something they are keen to
correct in the new campaign.
Beyond his team’s ambitions, Kamau urged Harambee Stars
head coach Benni McCarthy to also consider NSL talent when assembling the
national squad. He stressed that the league is full of quality players who can
compete at the highest level.
“The NSL is very competitive, and it is the only league
with teams across the country and works as a feeder league to the Premier
League. The federation should only look into the sponsorship issue,” he added.
Naivas will get their 2025/26 campaign underway with a
tough away fixture against Fortune Sacco at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga
County. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 pm, and Kamau believes a
positive result will set the tone for the season.
With renewed energy and a hunger for success, Naivas FC
will be hoping to make their mark in the new season.
