FKF Premier League side Murang’a SEAL have confirmed the departure of head coach Yusuf Chipo, just months after he helped the team avoid relegation.

Chipo, a seasoned tactician and former Harambee Stars assistant coach, joined Seal on April 2, 2025, following the resignation of John Njogu.

At the time, Seal were struggling at the foot of the table, but under his guidance, the team managed to steady their campaign and finish 13th, two points adrift of the dropzone to secure their place in Kenya’s top-flight league.

In a statement, the club praised Chipo’s contribution, saying:

“Coach Yusuf Chipo was engaged by the club in April 2025 with the specific assignment of steadying the ship and ensuring that the team remained in the Premier League. In a spirit of mutual respect, both parties agreed not to pursue an extension of the contract. The club sincerely thanks Coach Chipo for his service and dedication during his time with us and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.”

Seal has already moved quickly to reorganize their technical bench. Don Otieno has been handed the head coach role, while former Harambee Stars international Dennis 'Dess' Odhiambo has been promoted to the bench to provide leadership and experience.

“Moving forward, the team remains in safe hands under Coach Don Otieno, as we focus firmly on building strength, unity, and success in the coming season. At the same time, we are delighted to welcome former Kenyan international Dennis ‘Dess’ Odhiambo to the Technical Bench,” the club noted.

Chipo’s departure marks another change in a revolving door of coaches at Seal, who have previously been led by Njogu and veteran tactician Juma Abdallah.

The new-look Seal side begins their 2025/26 campaign against Ulinzi Stars, followed by tough fixtures against newly promoted APS Bomet, Bandari, Sofapaka, and Tusker FC.

For Chipo, his exit adds to a long coaching journey that has included title-winning spells at Ulinzi Stars, stints with AFC Leopards, and experience in Tanzania.

Despite recent struggles, his CAF A diploma refresher course in 2023 shows he remains committed to coaching at the highest level.
