Maua Talanta Studio, a collective of
musicians, producers, DJs, comedians, and content creators from Maua Town, has
been named the Eastern Region Tujiamini
Gold Award winner, securing a Ksh
1 million grant through the Tujiamini initiative by a giant gaming firm.
Founded in 2017, Maua Talanta began
as a vision to give local creatives access to quality production services
without the burden of traveling over 60 km to Meru Town or Nairobi. Registered
as a self-help group in 2018, the team faced challenges such as a lack of
equipment, studio space, and funding.
In June 2025, the group learned
about the Tujiamini initiative, a program that supports grassroots talent with
funding and visibility, and took a chance by sharing their story.
Their dream resonated, earning them
the Gold Award and the resources to transform their studio.
“This
award was a game-changer for us. It gave us the tools, confidence, and
credibility to grow.
“It’s
proof that grassroots talent matters—and when supported, it can thrive,”
said Frankline, Maua Talanta Studio spokesperson
With the Ksh 1 million funding, Maua Talanta Studio acquired modern band equipment, a professional video camera, a drone, streaming tools, DJ academy gear, and a complete sound system.
This upgrade has turned the studio
into a thriving creative hub, attracting artists from as far as Samburu,
Marsabit, and beyond, as well as CBC schools seeking hands-on learning for
students.
“We
believe in empowering communities through Tujiamini. Maua Talanta’s story is a
powerful example of how opportunity can unlock potential and create lasting
impact,” said Debrah Maina, Tujiamini representative.
Tujiamini is a Ksh
30 million annual initiative by the gaming firm that supports talents,
sports, and community projects across Kenya.
Categories include the Gold Award (Ksh
1,000,000 for community-based projects), Silver Award (Ksh 300,000 for

businesses and young talents), and Cheza Dimba Sponsorship (Ksh 250,000
