KVF: DCI plot revenge against Pipeline in Kenya Cup showdown

Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) will renew their rivalry this Saturday in the Kenya Cup semis slated at Kasarani Stadium Indoor Arena.

DCI are eyeing revenge against the league’s reigning champions after the latter stunned them 3-0, 3-2 in the best-of-three series last month to deny them their first title.

The detectives’ assistant coach, Patrick Sang, is confident they will outlast their nemesis this time round and punch their ticket to the final.

“We showed that we can match Pipeline in our second leg of the final. We lost because of small errors, which we have worked on.

“We are well prepared, and we promise an interesting game and a win for DCI,” Sang told Citizen Digital.

Sang also insists that they have worked on improving all the departments and have the necessary tools to harm the reigning league champions.

“We have been working to improve our backcourtdefense, service, and attacks in training so that we can be in the best shape when we face Pipeline.

“We still feel we had bad luck in the last outing, but we are confident going into the game,” said Sang.

The former GSU assistant coach also sounded a warning to their opponents, saying they will go all out for the title.

“We are going to win a gold medal; that’s what we promised ourselves at the beginning of the season. We are going to give our all and achieve our objective,” Sang added.

DCI have been boosted by the return of hard-hitting attacker Veronica Adhiambo, who will be instrumental in leading their attack.

The 26-year-old and Sarah Namisi’s combination in the attack will be exciting to watch, and Pipeline’s duo Trizah Atuka and Gladys Ekaru will have to be on top of their game to stop them.

The winner will clash with either KCB or Kenya Prisons, who have been lined up together in another semi-final.

Men’s semi-final clashes will see the league’s reigning champions, General Service Unit, clash with Kenya Prisons, while Kenya Ports Authority will battle for a final slot with Kenya Defence Forces.
