Musingu under head coach Brendan Mwinamo completed a sweet revenge to come from behind twice to beat last year’s champions Highway of Nairobi 3-2 in front of a fully packed stadium.
St Joseph’s swept aside Agai Mixed from Nyanza 3-0 to reach the final with a chance to win the nationals for the first time.
Back to the first semifinal, Highway under the tutelage of head coach Beldine Odemba through a penalty converted by Rial Beliew in minute 34 a goal that lasted for only 11 minutes thanks to Musingu’s danger boy Marvin Ashihundu.
Highway went ahead for the second time in the second half through a rocket shot by Otongoo Devilion who silenced Musingu’s massive support in the terraces.
What looked like a highway match to the final sharply turned upside down with Brendan Mwinamo-coached Musingu turning on the screw with two quick goals from Kevin Mukaramoja in the 91st minute through a well taken penalty after Highway fouled Musingu’s player inside the box.
What looked like a penalty kick in waiting was not to be the case as the Scorpions sent the ball to the right wing finding dangerman Mukaramoja who decided to shoot in the box only to find a highway defender who decided to clear for a corner, unfortunately scoring an own goal.
The goal that changed the scoresheet to 3-2 in favour of the home team Musingu sent the whole stadium in cheers with the center referee finishing the game much to the cheers of Musingu fans who believe that this title shall be lifted by their own- Musingu High.
In Kakamega School, Madira Girls booked a final clash against bitter rivals and national defending Champions Butere Girls for tomorrow at the same ground.
Madira beat Nasokol Girls 2-1 while Butere thrashed Kobala Girls from Nyanza 3-0 in the semifinals, a repeat of last year’s final and this year’s Western region final where Butere won in both.
