The appointment comes as the region co-hosts the prestigious tournament, jointly staged by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
CAF announced the full list of experts late Saturday, August 2, 2025, just before the kick-off where co-hosts Tanzania sunk Burkina Faso 2-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Amenga, one of Kenya’s most experienced technical minds, will be stationed at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he will work alongside Senegal’s Pape Bouna Thiaw, the CHAN 2022-winning coach who has been tapped to lead the entire TSG.
The CAF Technical Study Group is tasked with analysing tactical systems, monitoring emerging talent, and documenting coaching trends across all tournament venues.
Their work will inform future coaching strategies, support talent development, and enhance technical knowledge across the continent.
The group includes highly respected coaches, former internationals, and instructors such as Mohamed Magassouba (Mali), Kamel Kolsi (Tunisia), Walter Steenbok (South Africa), and Mark Fish (South Africa), among others, each assigned to a specific venue across the host nations.
CAF confirmed that the TSG will produce comprehensive technical reports supported by video analysis and advanced performance statistics.
These insights will be shared via CAF’s official platforms, contributing to the broader growth of African football.
Amenga’s inclusion not only affirms Kenya’s growing influence in the continental footballing landscape but also offers a rare opportunity for the country’s coaching knowledge to be represented at the highest levels of technical evaluation.
