‎Kenya has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers, set to run from September 4th to 16th in Nairobi.

This prestigious regional event, organized under the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), will feature eight top women’s club teams vying for a single ticket to the continental finals.

‎Football Kenya Federation (FKF) successfully bid to bring the tournament back to Kenyan soil, marking the second time the nation will host it after a memorable inaugural edition in 2021, where Vihiga Queens emerged champions.

‎ “We are happy that the tournament will be returning to Kenya,” said CECAFA Competitions Director Yusuf Mossi, highlighting the significance of the event in developing women’s football in the region.

‎This year’s tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, but was later moved to Nairobi.

‎CECAFA strategically scheduled the competition ahead of September 18 to ensure player availability for the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

‎Representing Kenya will be Kenya Police Bullets FC, the reigning national champions, who are aiming to improve on last year’s performance when they finished as runners-up to Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) FC.

‎The Bullets are determined to capitalize on home advantage and make history by qualifying for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

‎The participating teams include: Kenya Police Bullets (Kenya), CBE FC (Ethiopia), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), JKT Queens (Tanzania), Kampala Queens (Uganda), Rayon Sports Women FC (Rwanda), JKU Princesses (Zanzibar), and Top Girls Academy (Burundi).

‎Notably, four countries—Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Djibouti—will not field teams this year.

‎CBE FC and South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars remain the only clubs to have participated in all previous four editions of the CECAFA qualifiers.

‎The tournament winner will fly the region’s flag at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League, raising the stakes for every match set to unfold in Nairobi.
