Kenya police Bullets are set to play against the Tanzania's JKT Queens in the CECAFA Women's Championship qualifiers at the semi-final stage at Kasarani Stadium tomorrow.
Speaking at a press conference, Police Bullets Captain, Annedy Kundu, was optimistic but expressed feeling overwhelmed, having to meet expectations of winning on home ground.
'It's a bit challenging, and feeling pressure from fans to win on home ground.' Kundu commented.
The player also advocated for the fans to show up and to continue supporting them. She also emphasized on teamwork, promising that she will let her experience guide team and maintain the team's perfect defensive record in the tournament,
“Tomorrow’s match will be very competitive, but I will do my best not to concede. I will use my experience to guide my defenders so we can achieve that Golden Glove together,” she added.
Police Bullets Coach, Beldine Achieng', commended the teams journey so far, adding that they have prepared all through to the semi-finals.
She admitted that the JKT Queens are a formidable team, and that beating them will be a challenge. Despite this, the coach confirmed that she noted observable weaknesses that they hope to exploit on during the match.
“We have prepared as a team from the beginning to have a good start and a good ending. We respect our opponents, but there is never an easy final. We are ready and we shall see it tomorrow,” the coach remarked.
The coach praised striker Emily’s reliability but emphasized that her performance was made possible by the entire squad’s teamwork, from defenders to midfielders and attackers. Aside from the Captain, the coach also called upon the fans to show their support.
“We are grateful to be playing this final on home soil. Sunday is always a good day for football, so we urge Kenyans and all Police Bullets fans to come out and support us,” she remarked.
A win tomorrow would mark a significant landmark for Police Bullets as they seek to secure their first-ever CECAFA Women’s Champions League title and book a ticket to the continental CAF Women’s Champions League later this year.
