“Benni is a world respected coach, he's done well in South Africa, and he has also played for big figures. He is somebody that works hard and demands from his players,” he remarked.
McCarthy's extensive expertise; from being a player in Seven stars, Whitehill Welfare and West Ham United to coaching Amazulu, Manchester United (forwards Coach) and Cape Town City, gives him an added advantage to showcase his experience.
Mbatha notes that this makes Kenya very fortunate to have him.
“He is in the highest level in the EPL, so you guys are very fortunate to have that type of a coach,” he commented.
He urged players from not only Kenya, but also from the other East African regions to quickly adapt and provide McCarthy with the support he needs to succeed.
“It is important for the players to very quickly adapt and provide him with the support that Benni needs,” he added.
Since taking charge and with his acquired expertise, McCarthy has introduced refined player-selection strategies and tactical approaches that have shown results.
With proper teamwork, corporation and continuous support, Harambee Stars gain potential to rise on the continental stage, as they prepare for their next match against Burundi on October 9, 2025, at 4 P.M. EAT.
