With the overall series crown on the line, Sunday’s showdown promises high drama and intense rugby action.
KCB, unbeaten all day, underlined their championship credentials by sweeping Pool C with authority.
The bankers thumped Embu RFC 36–0 and overpowered Homeboyz 36–12, ensuring they marched into the last eight brimming with confidence.
Victory over Strathmore will not only secure a semifinal berth but also instantly crown KCB as the new National Sevens Circuit champions—a prize they have chased relentlessly all season.
For Strathmore Leos, the stakes could not be higher. To keep their faint title hopes alive, they must first upset KCB and then go on to lift the Dala 7s trophy outright.
Anything less will end their dream. The Leos earned their quarterfinal ticket by finishing second in Pool D, starting brightly with a 29–0 win over Impala and a 36–0 shutout of Kisumu RFC before falling 24–7 to a sharp Menengai Oilers side.
Third-placed Menengai Oilers themselves were among Saturday’s headline acts. They dominated Pool D, including their decisive victory over Strathmore, and will face Mwamba RFC in the quarters as they chase a first cup title of the season.
Mwamba, meanwhile, advanced after a strong Pool C performance highlighted by a 41–0 demolition of Embu RFC.
Dala 7s defending champions ,Kabras Sugar also impressed, topping Pool A unbeaten with wins over MMUST (34–15), Nakuru RFC (21–14), and Catholic Monks (19–15). The sugar men will clash with Nondescript—promoted from Kabeberi 7s and runners-up in Pool B—for a spot in the semis.
Daystar Falcons, fresh from a Kabeberi 7s final appearance, carried their momentum into Kisumu by winning Pool B undefeated, setting up a quarterfinal against a resurgent Nakuru RFC.
Nakuru’s path to the last eight was dramatic. Despite early losses to Catholic Monks (14–10) and Kabras Sugar (21–14), the Wanyore edged MMUST 24–17 in their final pool match and advanced on head-to-head superiority after a three-way tie on points.
All eyes, however, will focus on KCB and Strathmore. A KCB win secures the national circuit title and sets them on course for another trophy, while a Leos victory would ignite a dramatic title chase and force the bankers to wait for other results.
