The battle for the National Sevens Circuit crown reaches its climax this weekend with the 2025 Dala 7s, scheduled for September 13–14 at the Mamboleo Grounds in Kisumu.

Defending champions Kabras Sugar RFC, who finished third at last weekend’s Kabeberi 7s in what was an improved performance, will be seeking to retain the Dala 7s title they won last year after defeating Menengai Oilers in the Rai Derby final.

Kabras, currently fourth on the overall standings with 64 points, headline Pool A, where they will clash with CUEA Monks, who finished sixth in Kabeberi, Nakuru RFC (Wanyore), and Masinde Muliro University (MMUST).

Pool B features one of the season’s biggest revelations, the Patrick Odongo-inspired Daystar Falcons.

The Falcons stunned the rugby fraternity by storming into their first-ever Main Cup final at Kabeberi after upsetting Menengai Oilers and Strathmore Leos in the knockout stages. They are joined by Nondescripts, newly promoted after winning the Division Two crown, Mombasa RFC, and last season’s overall circuit winners, Kenya Harlequins.

Pool C brings together current circuit leaders KCB Rugby, who remain the team to beat after collecting 104 points across five rounds. The bankers, winners of the Driftwood, Christie, and Kabeberi 7s, will square off against a resurgent Mwamba RFC, perennial entertainers Homeboyz RFC, and invitational side Embu RFC.

Hosts Kisumu RFC headline Pool D, where they face stern tests from second-placed Strathmore Leos, who sit on 95 points and remain firmly in the hunt for the overall title. The varsity side, boosted by the possible return of captain Gabriel Ayimba and playmaker Shem Okola, will be eager to finish the season on a high. Also in the pool are Menengai Oilers, third overall with 77 points, and former giants Impala RFC.

With the standings finely poised, the Kisumu showdown promises fireworks. KCB will aim to cement its dominance, but Strathmore Leos remain within striking distance, while the Oilers and Kabras are determined to spoil the party.

Surprise packages like Daystar Falcons and the Monks add further intrigue, ensuring that the Dala 7s will deliver a thrilling conclusion to what has been a captivating circuit.
