Kibwage joins from Tusker FC, where the 27-year-old recently returned to full fitness in March after a three-month layoff with a groin adductor injury.
His impressive comeback earned him a spot in the ongoing CHAN 2024 squad, where he notably captained Kenya to a famous 1-0 win over two-time champions Morocco at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani this week.
The experienced centre-back, who has previously featured for AFC Leopards, KCB, and Sofapaka, leaves the Brewers after two and a half years.
His arrival at Gor Mahia ends speculation following a meeting with his agent Samuel Kiongera and club deputy patron Eliud Owalo earlier today.
Bandi, a 21-year-old AFC Leopards youth graduate, enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 campaign, winning both the MVP and Best Defender awards at the club’s end-of-season gala in Bungoma.
Born in Nairobi’s Hamza Makadara, Bandi rose through the Makadara Junior League before playing for Hakati FC, Jericho All Stars, and AFC Leopards Youth. Since his senior debut in January 2021, he has showcased versatility, excelling as a left-back, right-back, and midfielder.
The double acquisition is seen as a strategic move by Gor Mahia to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season starting September 5, especially after a trophyless campaign where they lost the league title to Kenya Police and the FKF Cup to Nairobi United.
