Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology
(MMUST RFC) youngster Clarence Hope has rallied his teammates to stay positive
as they prepare for the Embu 7s this weekend, the fourth leg of the 2025
National Sevens Circuit.
The students have endured a tough start to the series,
struggling to find rhythm in the opening three tournaments. Driftwood 7s, the
Lurambi-based outfit, managed eighth position; Prinsloo 7s finished 16th; and the
just-concluded Christie 7s, where they finished 11th.
However, the young center believes the team has what it
takes to bounce back.
"We know the results have not gone our way so far,
but that does not mean we stop believing.
“As a team, we are determined to fight for every game in
Embu. We cannot afford to look down on ourselves.
“This is another chance to show what MMUST rugby is made
of."
MMUST, who recently earned promotion back to the Kenya
Cup under coach John Asila, will line up in Pool D at the Embu 7s.
They face a tough test against Kenya Harlequins, Catholic
Monks, and Zetech Oaks.
Despite the challenging draw, Hope insists the students
have sharpened their focus in training and will be aiming to upset the odds.
"We respect every opponent, but we also believe in
our ability. The goal is to redeem ourselves and give our fans something to
cheer about," he added.
The Embu 7s will be crucial for MMUST as they chase
consistency and seek to re-establish themselves among the competitive sides in
the sevens circuit.
