FKF officially gets land for construction of Technical Centre in Machakos

The handover took place at the office of Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, where FKF President Hussein Mohammed signed the title deed alongside the county boss.

Mohammed said the project, located in the outskirts of Machakos town, would be instrumental in nurturing talent, improving coaching standards, and enhancing the preparedness of Kenya’s national teams.

“This facility will contribute greatly to the growth and strengthening of football in Kenya. Our ambition is to see Machakos become the headquarters of FKF,” state Mohammed.

Governor Wavinya assured the federation of her administration’s full support, including plans to improve sports infrastructure such as building a Level Six Hospital to serve athletes.

“We want to make sure and assure you that my administration will give you a conducive environment. This will not only benefit the people of Machakos but also Kenyans at large,” stated Wavinya.

“Besides the technical centre we will also build a Level 6 hospital to help the athletes,” added the county boss.

She also expressed optimism that Harambee Stars would continue to excel in the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).

In addition to the land deal, FKF donated footballs to teams set to participate in the third edition of the Governor Wavinya Cup, which the federation described as the start of a long-term partnership with the county to nurture grassroots talent.

The planned Technical Training Centre is a FIFA-funded project and is expected to become a hub for player development, coach education, and sports science in Kenya once completed.

The centre, to be constructed to the tune of Ksh 600m, is envisioned to house one natural grass pitch and two artificial turf pitches as well as an administration block fully equipped with offices and conference rooms.
