Kimilii Boys High School has set its sights on booking a spot in the handball final of the ongoing East Africa Secondary Schools games after advancing to the semi-finals with an impressive group stage performance.
The Bungoma-based side wrapped up the group stage with 10
points, securing key victories over Uganda’s Wampeo and Gombe as well as
Tanzania’s Kilombero. They also battled to draws against Kenya’s Manyatta and
Rwanda’s ADEGI to seal their place among the last four.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, head coach Fernwick Wanjala expressed confidence in his team’s chances,
noting that the experience gained from last year’s campaign will play a crucial
role in their push for the title.
“I still have players who featured in the semi-finals last
year when we were knocked out, but this time they have gained experience and
are more determined,” Wanjala said.
The tactician emphasized the team’s improved cohesion and
resilience, pointing out that their ability to grind out results in tight
matches reflects their growth and maturity.
According to Wanjala, Kimilili Boys will now be hoping to
go a step further than last year and cement their dominance in the handball
arena by reaching the finals and possibly clinching the championship after
retaining their best players who have now been playing together for two years.
