The tournament promises an intense weekend of rugby as clubs look to climb the ranks, earn promotion, and stake their claims in the competitive sevens scene.
In the men’s Division II category, Pool A includes KU Blak Blad, Molo RFC, NYS Spades—runners-up at the Driftwood 7s—and MKU Nairobi.
Pool B features Embu RFC, Project 61 TENP, Makueni RFC, and Northern Suburbs.
Pool C will see AP Warriors, Nandi Bears, Mean Machine, and Kisii Polytechnic go head-to-head.
Pool D comprises Homeboyz RFC, Eldoret RFC, MKU Thika, and Kenya Prisons, while Pool E includes 2024 Division II champions Kabarak University, Egerton Wasps, Jackals, and KCA University.
Zetech Oaks, who won the Driftwood 7s Division II title after edging out NYS Spades 10-0, have been promoted to the top tier and will not feature in Nakuru’s second division.
Their stellar performance in Mombasa confirmed their growth and strength in the sevens format. Other top performers from the previous leg, such as AP Warriors and Embu RFC, will look to go one better and secure their promotion spots.
Eight teams have been divided into two pools in the women's competition, which returns after missing the Driftwood opener.
Pool A includes Impala Roans, Harlequins, Meru Ladies, and Kisii Polytechnic, while Pool B features Mwamba Ladies, Northern Suburbs, NYS Ladies, and hosts Nakuru.
Impala Roans head into the leg as defending overall champions from 2024, with Mwamba and Northern Suburbs also expected to mount substantial challenges.
With four more circuit legs to follow after Prinsloo, this tournament presents a crucial turning point for aspiring clubs and emerging players.
