Several players and their coach have earned job promotions within the Police Service following an outstanding 2024/25 season that saw the team rise among Kenya’s volleyball elite.

Head coach Patrick Sang, the tactician credited with shaping the “DCI Queens” into one of the most competitive sides in the country, has been elevated from Corporal to the rank of Sergeant.

His leadership guided the team through a demanding campaign in which they finished second in the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) League to automatically qualify for the African Club Championships for the time. The team ecured fourth place in the inaugural Kenya Cup Volleyball Tournament.

Team captain Jane Mumbua, along with teammates Caroline Sirengo, Sarah Namisi, Mercy Iminza, and Peris Kanus, have also been promoted from Police Constable to the rank of Corporal.

Their rise reflects not only sporting excellence but also the discipline and teamwork demanded in their service roles.

Team Manager Madam Neddy Kilimo praised the recognition, describing it as a milestone for both the sport and the service.

“These promotions are not just about sports, but also about the hard work, discipline, and leadership our players demonstrate daily. They will motivate the team to strive even harder both in service and in sport,” she said.

The DCI Queens’ impressive run has been defined by resilience and a reputation for their fighting spirit.

They secured a silver medal in the 2024/25 KVF League, earning their first-ever qualification for the African Volleyball Club Championship, a historic step for the squad.

Individually, the players have also shone. Sarah Namisi was named Best Server, while Sharon Jeruto bagged the Best Outside Hitter award in the KVF League.

Several players, including Namisi and opposite hitter Mercy Iminza, went on to earn call-ups to the Malkia Strikers squad for the upcoming World Championships.

With promotions boosting morale and continental competition ahead, the DCI Queens are poised to continue their inspiring journey — proving once again that discipline, teamwork, and commitment pay off both on the court and in service to the nation.
