Speaking on Friday, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, assured fans and stakeholders that the government has put in place comprehensive measures to guarantee a smooth and memorable event.
Mvurya disclosed that elaborate plans have been made to welcome high-profile dignitaries, including FIFA executives, CAF senior officials, the President of Madagascar, as well as senior government representatives from Uganda and Tanzania.
“Kenya is ready to host the CHAN 2024 final. All logistics have been taken care of to ensure fans, players, and guests enjoy the occasion in a safe and festive environment,” he said.
The CS further revealed that pre-match celebrations will begin at 2pm and run until 5pm, setting the tone for the evening showdown. Fans with tickets have been urged to arrive early at the stadium to allow smooth entry and avoid last-minute congestion.
As the two nations battle for the tournament’s top honours on the pitch, the stands and stage will come alive with a line-up of East Africa’s finest artists—Uganda's Eddy Kenzo, Tanzania's Zuchu, and Kenya's Savara.
To enhance accessibility and fan experience, the government will maintain the established fan zones across Nairobi.
These include Lucky Summer near Kasarani, Archives in the Central Business District, DC Grounds in Kibera, Githurai, and Jacaranda Grounds.
Mvurya noted that the zones are designed to extend the excitement to thousands who may not make it into the stadium.
The CHAN 2024 final marks yet another milestone for Kenya in hosting continental football events and serves as a precursor to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which the country will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
With preparations in place, the spotlight now shifts to the pitch where Morocco will be chasing a third CHAN crown while Madagascar seeks to make history in their maiden final appearance.
Madagascar reached the final for the first time after securing a 1-0 victory over Sudan in the semi-finals on Tuesday while two-time champions Morocco defeated Senegal 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the semi-finals.
In the head-to-head record, Madagascar and Morocco have met once at the CHAN tournament. Madagascar emerged as 3-0 winners over Morocco at the 2022 CHAN Group C match in Algeria.
