Compel FC head coach, George Mutimba, has confirmed a series of new signings as the club prepares for its historic debut in the National Super League (NSL).
The new additions include Daniel Masinde from Vegpro, Jeremy Wayongo from
Nzoia, Shadrack Simiyu from KCB, Samuel Barasa from SamWest, and Derick Khaemba from
Sofapaka. According to Mutimba, the reinforcements are part of a broader
strategy to strengthen the squad ahead of their maiden appearance in Kenya’s second-tier
football competition.
Last season, while competing in Division One, Compel
struggled to find a prolific striker, a shortcoming Mutimba is keen to address.
“We are working to resolve the striker position as well as
bring in a quality goalkeeper,” the tactician told Citizen Digital on Wednesday.
Mutimba further added that once these key areas are
covered, the club’s academy players will be given opportunities to showcase
their talent.
However, the pre-season has not been without its exits.
Forward Silas Wafula has departed for Mara Sugar, while Bonface Mukhekhe has
been lured by MOFA. Mutimba has moved quickly to stem further departures,
insisting that no more players will be allowed to leave.
Compel FC, which earned promotion to the NSL this year, is
eyeing a strong start to its new campaign.
