Nairobi City Thunder successfully defended their Kenya National Men’s Basketball Premier League crown after completing a 3-0 finals sweep against Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) on Saturday.

Thunder sealed the championship on Saturday night with a commanding 80-43 victory in Game Three at the Nyayo Gymnasium.

The champions had already secured wins in the opening two games played in Mombasa last week.

In Game Three, Thunder dominated from the onset, taking the first quarter 26-07 before a balanced second quarter ended 12-12.

They maintained control in the second half, winning the third quarter 21-16 and finishing strongly with a 21-08 run in the final period to wrap up the series unbeaten.

Meanwhile, in the women’s Premier League, KPA Ladies also secured the title with a 3-0 sweep over Zetech Sparks.

The Dockers overcame Sparks 59-51 in Game Three at Nyayo, despite trailing 14-18 in the opening quarter.

They rallied back to win the next three quarters 14-11, 15-09, and 16-13, completing a dominant postseason run and reclaiming their crown.
