Despite finishing with ten men twice —against Morocco and Angola —the Benni McCarthy-coached Stars topped Group ‘A’ on ten points to book Madagascar in the quarters on Friday at Kasarani from 5PM.
“Without teamwork there is no way we will be where we are at the moment. We are friends with each other during good times and hard times and there is proper flow of information among the players and the technical bench. That is how we have managed to pull through,” said Otieno.
On his part, assistant coach Antony Kimani admits government support has been a huge shot in the arm for the players.
“The government and the federation have been supporting the team so much before and during the tournament. So all I can say is for the private sector to also come on board with the government and the federation for the growth of the game.”
Once again dependable defender Otieno reiterated the importance of fans respecting the CAF regulations that they have set to avoid further sanctions from the continental governing body.
“We urge the fans to continue following the the regulations set by CAF this will be a big boost for the country in the future opportunities so far as a team we are very humbled by their support as we look forward to more in the coming games
