Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League side Bungoma Queens are set to kick off preseason friendly matches next week as part of their preparations for the upcoming new campaign.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, the side's head coach Godfrey Mabonga confirmed that Bungoma Queens will use the build-up fixtures to sharpen their match fitness after what he described as a well-deserved break for his players following last season’s demanding schedule.
“I gave the girls enough time to rest because last season was quite tough for us. Now we are ready to return and focus on building a stronger side,” Mabonga said.
The tactician also stressed that he is not considering releasing any of his current players ahead of the season, pointing out the importance of stability in the squad.

At the same time, he disclosed plans to bolster the team with over five new signings, including a goalkeeper and a midfielder, to provide more depth and competitiveness.
Last season, Bungoma Queens finished fifth in the FKF Women’s Premier League. With the new season approaching, Mabonga has set his sights on improving that performance and pushing the team closer to the top of the standings.
