Embu Sevens, the fourth leg of the National Sevens Circuit, has seen the heavyweights stamp their authority, with KCB RFC, Strathmore Leos, Menengai Oilers, and MMUST storming into the Cup quarterfinals unbeaten.

KCB were ruthless in Pool A, brushing aside every opponent on their way to the last eight. The bankers completed their group A sweep by  blanking out Daystar Falcons 33-0 in their final group game.

With earlier wins over Mwamba and Embu RFC, KCB finished top of the pool unbeaten, scoring 86  to seal their fourth straight Cup quarterfinal appearance.

Daystar Falcons had already secured passage after two early wins, edging Mwamba 17-14 in Round Two to confirm a second consecutive Cup quarterfinal spot.

Tries from Clinton Amukwachi, Robbin Wanyama, and Moses Keragori proved enough to guarantee their progression before their mauling to KCB.

In Pool B, Strathmore Leos maintained a perfect 100 percent record, opening their campaign with a narrow but crucial win over Kabras Sugar before easing past Kabete Stallions and Impala RFC to top the group unbeaten.

It was their fourth straight appearance in the Cup quarterfinals for the Willis Ojal coached side.

Kabras, meanwhile, recovered strongly from that opening loss to the Leos, responding with back-to-back wins over Impala and Kabete Stallions.

The sugar men’s revival secured them a Cup quarterfinal spot, a welcome turnaround after they had missed out at the Christie 7s.

Christie 7s finalists Menengai Oilers were equally dominant in Pool C, cruising through unbeaten with the most imposing points difference in the group.

Nakuru RFC who lost to local to local rivals Menengai Oilers in the opening pool C game come back strong to secure a second place finish.

Wanyore edged past Nondescripts in their second match before finishing their day one with a 41-7 win over invitational side Mean Machines.

Meanwhile, MMUST provided the drama in Pool D, edging Catholic Monks 17-14 with a late converted try to complete their 100 percent record.

The students topped the group with three wins from three, while Kenya Harlequin RFC joined them after finishing second.

More action to follow on Sunday as the sides look on to get maximum points as the circuit enters its finals stages.
